Robert Crook (signature on works: "Robert Asa Crook")works out of Pasadena, California, making his own type of eccentric ceramics. His pottery is collected across the United States as works of folk art. Face jugs are an American institution dating back to the earliest days of the United States. Most face jug artisans are on the East Coast and Deep South. Crook is the only known folk artist consistently creating face jugs on the West Coast. This short clip shows some of the many bizarre and haunting face jugs and jars created by Crook.
